Louis Armstrong Swing Classics Feature in a New Notated Jazz Trumpet Series by Paul Denegri
Launching a new series of notated jazz arrangements ideal for trumpet players grade 7/8 and above with piano accompaniment.
Fresh new arrangements for trumpet and piano are now available of classic swing numbers from the horn of Louis Armstrong.
These Louis Armstrong tunes, co-written with Clarence Williams, Lillian Armstrong and Joe 'King' Oliver, include the iconic Armstrong tune West End Blues, a stomping version of Satchel Mouth Swing and an energetic upbeat arrangement of Tomorrow Night.
All three arrangements have been careful crafted form the experienced and skilled hand of professional trumpet player, arranger and teacher Paul Denegri capturing the character and energy of the great mans playing.
Also included in this jazz series by Paul Denegri, and swinging comfortably alongside the Louis Armstrong tunes is Duke Ellington's instantly recognisable trumpet classic Concerto for Cootie written for jazz trumpet player Charles Melvin 'Cootie'Williams including his signature plunger mute 'growling'. In contrast to The Duke's 'Cootie" is a new arrangement of the deeply evocative Strange Fruit recorded by Billie Holiday and considered the first protest song of the civil rights movement in the US.
All arrangements are fully notated for trumpet with piano accompaniment and include biographical notes on the artists.
They are ideal for the concert platform as well as opening up to students the stylistic world of jazz greats Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong and other jazz artists the compelling swing music of the 1930's - 40's.
