Too Darn Hot was written by Cole Porter for his 1948 musical Kiss Me Kate. The song opens Act 2 and doesn’t contribute to the plot at all. In the 1953 MGM Hollywood film version the song moves to an earlier point. One of the finest recordings made of the song was by Ella Fitzgerald on her 1956 album Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook.
