Carmen was first performed by the Opera Comique in Paris in 1875. Bizet sadly and very suddenly passed away after the 33rd performance unaware that the opera would go on to receive international acclaim over the next ten years. Now Carmen is a stable diet of opera houses and concert halls all over the world.

Carmen in Five is a reference to the length of the arrangement. If all marked tempos are adhered to, the arrangement takes the listener through many of Carmen’s most famous and much loved melodies in just under five minutes.
