MUSICALS
Paul has written four full length musicals: Everything and Nothing, Guv, Hair Rock and brand new for 2021 Operation Moon Perspective.
Guv and Hair Rock appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe both receiving 4 star reviews from independent critics.
Everything and Nothing which received critical acclaim at The Edinburgh Festival is based on an original story line by Paul about a man who has Everything but through a business investment disaster finds himself with nothing but rebuilds his life coming to realise that when he thought he had everything he actually had nothing but when he nothing he actually had everything.
On the back of the success of Everything and Nothing Paul was invited to write a new show for a return visit to The Edinburgh Festival. Coffee with Guv is based it on the true and hilarious story of a young teacher new to the East End of London who sets up the very first coffee shop and youth club in the late 1950’s.
Set in a run down church hall in The Elephant and Castle, the young teacher (Guv) succeeds despite a great deal of sceptical opposition from the older generation trying to come to terms with the emergence of the teenage rebels.
Paul’s third rock musical was entitled Hair Rock and is set in the late 1980’s on Sunset Strip in LA.
A young rock fan in desperation to be cool sells his soul to the devil to aquire his dream to be a rock legend only for dire consequences to emerge when the devil takes control.
"..... a hilarious and heartwarming musical about the establishment of London's first youth club in the 1950s .... an incredibly professional production, crammed with truckloads of laughs and beautifully thoughtful moments. "
Broadway Baby Critic, Edinburgh Fringe production of Guv.
"The script is highlighted by piquant humour ...... with the backing vocals the charm of the score, including the harmonies of giggly pop group, The Ideals, and often embracing the whole ensemble in songs like the synth-bass driven "I'm the Boss." Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Everything in Nothing - The Skinny Critics.
